What to Expect on Your First Visit

Planning Your First Visit

Visiting any church, for the very first time can be a tough experience. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What’s here for my kids? What can I expect? These and many more questions can surface. Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Ashland Baptist Church, we believe will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. For starters we have designated "Visitor Parking" close to the main entrance. Secondly, we staff an active Greeter Ministry with very willing volunteers that will greet you and hand you a bulletin containing important information. Thirdly, we staff a Connection Center booth in the Main Foyer that will assist you to connect with us and point you in the right direction. During the Worship service and beyond we want you to experience inspiring music, helpful relevant preaching and teaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home”!

Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.

I’m Not a Baptist… Can I Still Attend?

It is our desire that Ashland Baptist Church would be a church for everyone that has a desire to have a relationship with God. You do not have to come from a Baptist background, or hold to any particular religious affiliation to attend services here. We are convinced that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is sufficient to point any sincere person to faith in Jesus Christ. If you have a desire to know God or already have a relationship with God desiring to experience His best in your life, we invite you to join us on the journey, for all of us are on a journey.

What’s here for my kids?

Starting with a great nursery, there is something special for every age child from birth through high school! At every service we offer safe, clean, and staffed nurseries for children up to four years old. For children in Pre-K through 5th grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered classes on Sunday morning, in addition to separate Sunday school classes for Junior High/High School. There is also "Kids Rock" which is run during the sermon of the morning message. We also have a Wednesday night kids club, Team KID, which runs from 6:00-7:30pm.  IMPACT Youth is for students in 6th-12th grade and is held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm.  All these ministries are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. In addition all volunteers that work with children have undergone a criminal background check.

How should I dress?

There is NOT a dress code at ABC for members or guests. Church is certainly not a fashion show and so you wear what is comfortable for you. Our ministry leaders tend to dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress — the men in a dress shirt and dress slacks, sometimes with a tie, and the women in modest dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable during your visit here at ABC.

Am I expected to participate in the offering?

NO. We don’t invite you to Ashland Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. Please don’t feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.

If there’s something we missed!

Please give us a call, or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you’re looking for a church home or new to Southern Boone County, we hope your first visit at Ashland Baptist Church will be uplifting and encouraging! We exist to worship God while serving you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you’ll feel right at home from the very first moment you step onto our church property! Let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
