Ashland is located in Southern Boone County and is one of the fastest growing communities in Missouri, situated half-way between Columbia and Jefferson City. Although experiencing continuing population growth, Ashland exhibits a small-town atmosphere, excellent schools, and friendly people. Ashland Baptist Church centrally located on Broadway Street.

Ashland Baptist Church is seeking a full-time pastor to provide spiritual leadership to the church through Biblically sound preaching, discipleship, and exemplifying Godly character and ministerial and pastoral care to the congregation and community. The Senior Pastor will live and serve in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for Pastors and in following Christ. He will lead by love, provide encouragement, have a heart for the community and missions, and be committed to discipleship and teaching in accordance with God’s Word and actively involved in church ministries and outreach.


Church Description
Ashland Baptist Church was founded on April 19,1879 and has a long history of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and serving God to grow His Kingdom. We are members of the Heart of Missouri Baptist Association and the Southern Baptist Convention. We support the Missouri Missions Offering, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Operation Christmas Child, Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, as well as local and other international mission projects. Our IMPACT Youth Group has a weekly average attendance of 18-20 youth and our TEAM KID Children’s Program averages up to 20 children. Sunday service attendance is from 130-150 and Life Group attendance is around 70 people. Ashland Baptist Church is active with: Life Groups, Men’s and Women’s Ministries, VBS, a monthly Food Bank, weekly Women’s Bible Study, weekly prayer meeting, and various fellowship events.

The Candidate
The pastor will lead and develop leadership for equipping the congregation to fulfill the Great Commission and accomplish the purpose statement of the church. The pastor is the leader of pastoral ministries in a church. As such he works with the deacons and church staff to: (1) lead the church in performing its tasks, (2) lead the church to engage in a fellowship of worship, education, ministry, and application, (3) proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers, and, (4) care for the church’s members and persons in the community. He will provide appropriate pastoral care to members of the church and community. He will lead by example in the area of personal evangelism. He will equip the leadership and members of the church to do the same. He will have a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is demonstrated through his accepting, loving, and nurturing of each person.

Qualifications & Expectations
He will meet the qualifications for overseer as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4. He will provide kingdom leadership to the members of the church enabling them to focus on the Great Commission, and equipping them to carry out the five functions of the New Testament church: evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and worship. He will have experienced God’s clear call, will be led by the Holy Spirit, will have been ordained into the Gospel ministry, and will be experienced in pastoral ministry, will possess Bible based preaching skills, will be a college and seminary graduate. He will subscribe to the Divine origin of the Scriptures and endorse the other elements of the Southern Baptist faith as outlined in the “Baptist Faith and Message” 2000 edition.
